It is widely used as subject to citrus trees. This takes place because when a tree is grafted to bitter orange this fosters its resistance to diseases such as tristeza virus which attacks citrus trees, as well as increases its resistance to frost. If bitter orange is not used as subject but is grown as a tree we will discover that its fruit reminds us orange. Its taste is particularly bitter hence is not consumed fresh. Very often though is used in confectionary, soap and perfume making etc.
